"Wreck It Ralph" = "Toy Story" for video-games

"Wreck-It Ralph" was already on my most-anticipated movies of the year list. At 2:47 of this trailer, it became #1. I won't be more psyched for a movie this year...

This may not be a Pixar movie, but it has that "feel." I'm tearing up, just a little, on reflex.

The pitch: Ralph is the villain of a "Donkey Kong" expy who wants to try out being the good guy, so he departs to try his hand in the new worlds of other games; two of which - representing Kart Racers and FPS, respectively - are glimpsed in the trailer. GREAT premise, and Jane Lynch as the Marcus/Samus hybrid is inspired casting.

I'm actually kind of amazed Nintendo signed-off on what looks like a couple of cameos - aren't they supposed to be REALLY hard to work with on that stuff?

Ok, this trailer sold me at the 2:27 mark. So long as it isn't 3D only.

Count me in!

I'm familar with her work. I think she's pretty informative most of time and I agree with her cause. My only question why isn't this kind of time and effort put into actually making the kind of female characters people complain there aren't enough of? Not that this stuff shouldn't brought into awareness but, you'd think people like her would create the kind of characters they want to see instead of asking other people to make it for them.

On-Topic: I LOL'D at the villians meeting. Bowser, Eggman, Zangief, Bison, etc. giving each other pep talks sounds like it should hilarious. I wasn't too keen on this movie at first but, now I have to see it.

Why does she need 26 grand to make a series of web videos? Just seems odd...

On topic: The movie looks interesting. The subject matter intrigues me enough to look deeper into it, but as a comedy, I couldn't find a single joke in that trailer. As of right now I fear they thought video game nostalgia was enough to sell the movie and phoned the rest in.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong here, because this could be tons of fun...

Feminist Frequency will put something dedicated to positive female characters, the reason why she is pointing out some negative archetypes is to make sure people are not desensitized towards them because they have become the norm.

I got a bad feeling about this.

Not sure why, it seems ok. The visuals are good. The story looks like a lot of fun can be had. And yet, I have a bad feeling about it.

Why is that? Why does this just feel wrong somehow?

"When did video games become so violent and scary"

Around the time Pac Man ate his enemies alive, what bed of roses did YOU just wake up from lol.

I'm really excited about this, it's rare that a movie based on video games actually looks good. I'm also glad the FPS characters aren't evil, which I was kind of afraid of since they cast the stereotyped bully Jane Lynch in the role. I hope this makes a ton of bank it looks hilarious.

Tho, Zangief is not a villain. Methinks they got that from the SF movie.

Also I lold at the Sara Silverman character, the only time I've ever laughed at anything regarding Silverman other than her face.

"Why are you so rude", I don't know Ralph, but she's the same way in our world too so you'll have to get used to it. Or, you know, delete her...no one would hold it against you...

You keep calling it "Toy Story but with video games". Everyone else I meet calls it Who Framed Roger Rabbit with video games. I think that's a more fitting comparison, honestly.

Zaingeif was also a villain in the short lived street fighter tv series. I think it was because of the cold war issues. There is your big picture material.

I forgot to mention it was american made street fighter tv series where the main character were Blanka Chun li and Guile. when street fighter was a code name of international agents. you know the one where chun li destroyed a tank by kicking it. This may be the reason why we overate her abilities.

Is the zombie with the axes supposed to be from House of the Dead?

Who's the demon next to Ralph? Just random demon-like monster, or someone in particular?

I wonder if the movie ends with Ralph getting his own video game series where he and his little nephew who wears a baseball cap traverse a jungle trying to save their banana hord from evil Alligators. That would be awesome.

also, apparently leaked art of Ralph awhile back had him in Mario's color scheme. If Mario makes a cameo we'll have entered Roger Rabbit levels of cameos.

It's so beautiful. Each time I see it, I cry or convulse into spasms of nergastic proportions.

It has nothing to do with Toy Story. Indeed, it is Who Framed Roger Rabbit with video games
