Modern War 3 Trailer Teases World War III

A new trailer reveals that the new story "Call of Duty" fans will be skipping entirely on their way to engage in online deathmatches with Ritalin-addled 12 year-olds involves a world-wide conflict.

As the previous game involved full-scale military operations underway in North America, the Middle East and Europe I'm not 100% clear why this is a "new" development; but whatever.

I think Jim from the Jim Quisition hates you, or is your inverse bob.

First off, He is British, all Evil twins are better when they're British.

Second off, he agrees with your views on colorful not equaling gay, as seen with his Kirby Epic Yarn.

Third, he Trolls for the sake of trolling, like you do on occasion. :p

Fourth, he loves the COD games.

Fifth he is fat.

He basically you, but with several twisted twisty twist and turns. Like an eviler version of you. :p

I'm guessing that between Juan's comment and your differing opinions on Extra Consideration that soon the fans will be perpetuating some sort of rivalry between you and Jim.

I know you're better than that, Bob. :)

dear god that looks horrible. That series went down quicker than a plummeting 747 attached to an aircraft carrier.

1. Do you even know jack shit about the people who play COD? Most, if not all COD players I know have played the single player. It's usually the multiplayer they play first however, as that's the main part of the game.
2. With the idea of WW3, they are obivously implying that multiple countries are at war, rather than just America and Russia.
3. I know for a fact I'm buying this game, why? Because they are bringing back the G36C and MP5, and those were my favorite guns from COD4.
4. Where do you get off saying "online deathmatches Ritalin-addled 12 year-olds? Most COD are decent people. Of course, you wouldn't know that.
5. Why do you say "online deathmatches" as if you're saying that all you do in COD multiplayer is mindlessly kill other players? Just goes to show how little you actually know about COD, the series, the story, and it's fanbase.

Even though I rarely play FPSes, and never play online multiplayer (except a wee bit of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood), I actually liked the first Modern Warfare's single-player campaign. The second was still quite fun to play, but the story just took a left turn into Nonsense-ville. But this--this just looks ludicrous. Think I'll pass.

And lo' on this day did Bob flog his dead horse(s) for the sake of site hits.

You don't comment on hundreds of game releases, but feel the need to troll CoD players.

Why?

Is your income more dependant on site adverts than the work you do for the escapist and screwattack?

I would like to know what the big deal is with Modern Warfare and how "hip" it appears to be to bash on it. Is the story-line way too crazy for it's own good? Of course it is! I'll tell you one thing though...

It's a freaking video game! Isn't that the whole idea? Having fun with a game? When people bash games that are supposed to be fun just because they feel they have to review a games' content on the same level as, oh I don't know, a best-selling novel, game makers will suck the fun out of NEW and INTERESTING idea's because of those reviews, without even realizing that it's like comparing apples to oranges.

When it comes to the MW series, I've never had so much fun playing a shooter BECAUSE things got so out of control in the story. It was almost like an old James Bond movie without stupid gadgets and a squad of bad-asses wrecking shit along-side you. The storyline is basically a "what would happen if..." scenario, which they have every right to do! I applaud them for doing so. That's not taking into consideration the quality of the game-play itself, which is so solid you would be hard-pressed to find an equal among the FPS world. (And please don't say Halo. I will loose my cool if anyone says Halo...)

Did they make mistakes when it game to game design? Yes. Yes they did. Very fundamental mistakes. The big one that comes to mind is "don't do anything in a cut scene that you can have the player do through game-play." Unfortunately the MW team though you can ONLY reveal new information in cut scenes with nothing but voice overs. I think a "back to basics of game design" class would help them out quite a bit.

Another huge game design mistake I believe they made was, "just because it's a shooter, that doesn't mean it's all you should do throughout the game." In today's society, when I drop 60 of my hard-earned dollars on a video game, I would like very much to be entertained throughout the entire duration of that game. When the whole game has me running-and-gunning, I tend to get a little burned out on it. We can all learn from Valve, Because they discovered that there is SO MUCH MORE game-play to be had from the first person perspective other than "point and shoot."

I would even go so far as to go on record saying, "If I could play MW4, developed by Valve, I would gladly pay 60, or even 80 of my hard-earned dollars on the game, at midnight, on opening day. Of course that opening day wouldn't be for 10-12 years... but thats a totally different story..."

Wait... so... I thought CoD MW was initially an attempt get the franchise out of World War 2. It seems MW3 is undoing all of that and taking the franchise to World War 2 2011. I mean all the locales sported just so happen to be World War 2 campaign locations... Hmmm... Who are the aggressors, it really seems that this is really missing some interesting creative and politically relevant ideas for a third world war. Are the Russians really going to be the bad guys? This should have been called Call of Duty: Red Alert. The third world war starts when Albert Einstein goes back in time to kill Hitler but upon returning to the present he finds that the Soviet Union is in tact and starting a war with Europe and the United States in the 21st century. Oh, Noes! Your covert ops team has to chase Albert Einstein through time to reset the time line to more American one. MW3: Red Alert features the first female playable character in the franchise, Tanya. Activision soon becomes embroiled in a legal battle with EA and actual modern warfare is seen in all its savagery. The End.

There is something I'm surprised Bob's never done an episode about, despite the fact that it would be right up his alley. Independently-made retro fanservice games. Not having anything to say about the likes of "Super Mario Brothers Crossover" and the like seems like an oversight.

Picking on COD fans, belittling Fast and Furious fans...You're turning into a bit of an asshole, my friend. Different strokes for different folks, man.

Really? Mocking CoD fans? That's a little too easy don't you think? As some people have probably mentioned, go watch the Jimquisition's video on the call of duty series. You may not like it but to call it straight up bad is just hipster behaviour.

At the risk of sounding like everyone else here... or like YOU did once, 'Grow the FUCK up.' Give the shit a rest already.

Sure, alot of us used to be on your side against the FPS outbreak, but now... you've joined the trolls, and your grunting and raising a stink is not welcome anymore. Why don't you give all this BS you've been doing for the last half a year and go back to what you used to do before we ALL up and abandon your ass.

And Bob? It's no secret, there's ALOT less people checking here now. And alot of these people were probably watching you on your other sites so... maaaaybe it's time to get your shit together.

First thing I'd do, get rid of that insepid ego of your's. I'm practically assured that if that Jim fellow hadn't started the whole 'Thank GOD for ME.' crap you'd have started bfore long.

(PS: In case you've become so much of a troll you can no longer understand all this, 'You stink, and I'm not your friend anymore! Nyah!' You owe me a buck for the translation)

Good lord people he just expressed that he's not impressed with the new premise.

I don't think at any point Bob has said that the CoD games are straight up bad. I think everybody here should just take a chill pill and go play Call of Duty or something.

Damian said...

Considering that bob has gone on the record to say that he doesnt play FPS online, I beleive he has absolutely no idea of the main userbase.

And they say he is the voice of reason. Id put more stock in Jim from the jimquisitions words than his.

It seems that you take great risks with trying to be witty on the Internet.

Bob, perhaps if you had written: "A new trailer reveals that the new story 'Call of Duty' fans will be overlooking while they participate in online combat with immature and overly-energetic young people involves a world-wide conflict," you would have angered fewer people.

Keep having fun!

The Karligarchy said...

Look guys, Bob´s remarks weren´t THAT inflammatory. Furthermore, they aren´t surprising. Everyone is responding with such outrage like they were blind sided with this... Frankly I was more surprised that he actually posted something about it. Don´t get mad at Bob for trolling if you´re just gonna let yourself be that easily trolled... Anyway.. does anyone have any ideas what the sides are going to be in this global war?

cydvis said...

I don't understand why bob shows that trailer and why he does it that way.
I mean, yeah there is something to say about how multiplayer-heavy/competitive games like MW/Battlefield and others like Starcraft or street fighter tries to sell by basically saying "look folks! we're back ! and with a better story !", even when everybody knows it's the multiplayer that make or break them.

I was hoping some "overthinking stuff" on that matter, not just that :(

Yordan said...

@cydvis

Actually an episode about the competitive video game scene from Bob would be an interesting one to watch.

J.C. Hedges said...

I second that, Yordan. I've never had a good relationship with the competitive gaming scene. It tends to ruin my enjoyment of fighting games...
